Callan was encouraged to join the Student Philanthropy Board through her on-campus job. As a student worker for UK Philanthropy, she works with Donor Relations and Stewardship, stuffing envelopes, mailing birthday cards and delivering packages.
“I didn’t know much about the board before my job, and I hope, through my involvement, I can get more students involved in the Center for Student Philanthropy,” Callan said. “I want to directly help as many people as possible, because giving back is so rewarding.”
As a member of the Pre-Pharmacy Club and Pi Beta Phi, Callan was already involved in philanthropy, working to address childhood literacy. She also is inspired by her fellow board members, many of whom already have their own nonprofits or are actively involved in service.
“It is nice to see what college students can accomplish,” Callan said. “Seeing what they are doing in class and in the community makes me want to dream bigger, work harder and do more.”
