As a multi-scholarship recipient, Joe knows the power of philanthropy. His donors’ generosity enabled him to fully devote himself to his studies and get involved on campus. It also allowed him to enjoy his fifth year and join the Student Philanthropy Board.
“I have been involved in philanthropy all through college, mainly through my fraternity,” the Lexington, Kentucky, native said. “Now that I have gone alumni in my fraternity, I wanted to stay involved with philanthropy on campus.”
A member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Joe attended his hometown school because he knew the University of Kentucky had a strong academic reputation and would give him an amazing college experience without leaving the state. He was drawn to the opportunities to get involved as well as the prestige of the College of Engineering.
As he prepares to graduate, Joe wants to dedicate himself to making a difference.
“I hope to share my experience with others and learn from their experience how we can create a more benevolent campus culture,” Joe said.
