Through the center, we want to build a culture of philanthropy on campus and in the community. It starts by educating people on the joys of philanthropy, encouraging their participation in transforming campus and together celebrating the benefits of our collective efforts.
It starts with hands-on learning. Students work with UK philanthropy professionals to learn best practices and how to plan and execute events. They can further their knowledge by visiting our library, which has a catalog of books and resource materials designed to help students with every aspect of philanthropy from cultivation and solicitation to stewardship and retention.
We offer students an immersive philanthropic experience, beginning with our Student Philanthropy Board. This group of student leaders will develop our programming and organize philanthropy events, including dinners with donors, giving days and educational events that allow UK students to network with and be mentored by local philanthropy professionals. Interested students can learn more about philanthropy by working as student callers for the Phonathon or interning with Student Philanthropy.
As the center grows, UK hopes to spread the joy of charitable giving across the campus and throughout the community, involving more potential volunteers, donors and aspiring philanthropists. By creating a culture of philanthropy, we want to spur more students, staff and faculty to support UK or volunteer on campus or in the community.
